Overview
Menopause,
does this word sound familiar? Well if you are a woman this does
sound familiar, however this is not only limited to females. Research
shows that men can too go through the same experiences. Studies
show that male menopause may be emotionally triggered through a
mid-life crisis. However, it may only be physical in aspect and
is caused by the sporadic changing hormone levels. The changing
hormone levels typically occur with the change in testosterone levels.
Moreover, it is typical that men in their late forties and early
fifties note their testosterone dropping. This is usually what causes
the initial symptoms of male menopause. This condition is usually
experienced by men that range from thirty-five to as old as sixty-five
years.
Physical
Syptoms
The
initial symptoms of male menopause consist of: hormonal, physiological,
and chemical changes. This condition is increasing all over the
world and the average age a man will go through this is between
forty and fifty five years. The central cause is the lowered levels
of hormones. Many of the symptoms of male menopause are similar
to a female's symptoms when she goes through this stage. The decrease
in testosterone can affect a majority of the organ system because
they all require this vital source on the male's part. Other symptoms
include but are not limited to: a slowed down immune system, decreased
endurance when exercising, insecurity about weight, fluctuating
weight, hair loss or thinning of the hair, fatigue, difficulty sleeping,
stiffness, abnormal sweating, frequent cold hands and feet in normal
weather, and frequent itching. |
