There
has been a lot of talk about the anti-aging effects of
Human Growth Hormone.
But many say that those effects are due to
placebo effects, and in some cases might harm the human
body. Below
is some general information about HGH and its uses:
About
Human Growth Hormone
Human growth
hormone, or HGH, is produced by the pituitary gland of
the human body. Its
functions to encourage growth in children and take part
in an active role in the metabolic processes of adults.
HGH is produced most abundantly during
adolescence when growth accelerates.
The production of HGH declines with age, which
has been associated with many symptoms of aging.
These may include wrinkles, gray hair, decreased
energy, reduced sexual abilities, osteoporosis,
increased body fat, and more.
These same symptoms are also found in younger
people who are growth hormone deficient.
Studies showed that when growth hormones are
replaced for these individuals, the symptom improved or
disappeared.
Thus many believed
that by taking HGH into the body, older adults will
reverse the signs of aging, reversing the aging
processes to 10-20 years.
However, at high doses, there are risks.
These include high blood pressure, carpal tunnel
syndrome, and enlarged breasts in men, as well as the
swelling of hands, feet, and face.
Still others claim
that the anti-aging effects people felt by taking HGH is
due to placebo effects.
A double blind study showed HGH to have no
significant improvement on the effects of aging. |
